We've got a new feature this week that should stir up the commenst section... Pick Your Player.
After watching Grady Sizemore and Jacoby Ellbury, two of the league's best center fielders go toe-to-toe this week, I thought it would be fun to have a weekly feature where you guys chime and and tell us who you would pick if you were building an MLB team.
All you have to do is vote on the poll to the right and leave a few words in the comments section below. But there is a catch... you can't just write a name. You gotta give us at least a sentence on why you'd pick one player over another. We've got a lot of educated and passionate readers here, so don't half ass it!
The idea here is to get some running dialogue going, so check back to see what other have to say and have some fun with the back and forth.
The Poll will stay open from Wednesday to following Tuesday, at which point a random commentor will be chosen to win a FREE t-shirt from The Bottom Line store. Just make sure you leave an e-mail address in the comment.
Here's this week's Pick Your Player...
Grady Sizemore vs Jacoby Ellsbury
Sizemore: Four years of consistent speed (29 SB/Y) and power (26 HR/Y) ... Grady scores 100+ runs a year in his sleep and drove in 90 runs in 2008 ... He's currently just 26 years old ... he has his won cult following called "Grady's Ladies."
Ellsbury: Jacoby stole 50 bases in his first full season as a pro and once caught a deer with his bare hands ... He also hit .280 and scored 98 runs ... He's a Gold Glove caliber fielder and will be in the running for one now that Coco is in KC ... Jacoby is just 25 years old - with more experience and improved plate discipline, he could be the best CF in baseball.
So... who ya got?
Cast your vote on the Poll and leave your thoughts in the comments section below with an e-mail address... we'll announce the random winner of a t-shirt next Wednesday.
