After last night's performance, I dare someone to tell me why Brad Penny can be trusted as our No. 3 starter in the playoffs.
In fact, you can accept my challenge here on CSN's The Daily Duel - a new feature from TruFan and CSN that enables crazy fans like us to debate the latest Sox topics.
Evan from FBAL is currently debating the need for a waiver pickup and I've extended this Penny-based challenge to anyone that is willing to enter.
Penny may be holding opponents to 3.2 aerned runs per start, but he's also averaging just 5.5 innings per start and he's coughing up ding dongs (home runs, not tasty treats) left and right. Last night's 117 pitches, 6.0 IP, 3 HR, 5 ER outing agaionst one of the league's best offenses is a perfect example of why this guy cannot be our No. 3 down the stretch.
Only problem is... we don't have any other options...
Leave a comment here or at The Daily Duel... and if you're a Penny fan, execpt my challenge and state you case in The Duel!
