By now you all have seen the game, read the papers and blogs and listened to the back and forth on the radio about what we should expect from Clay Buchholz down the stretch.
So... before I throw in my two cents, I have to get this off of my chest:
Clay... buddie? I'm sorry. Not even two weeks ago I told the world that I was done with you. Done with the "Buchholz Experiment" and mad at Theo for refusing to ship you off to Toronto for Roy "Complete Game" Halladay.
But you know what? You shut me up, didn't you?
Instead of imploding under the pressure put on you by the lack of a No. 3 starter, you've simply gone out and pitched your ass off... three times in a row now... against three "aces."
It wasn't pretty against C.C. (5 walks) but you hung in there despite a complete lack of offense from your squad. And I was at Fenway when you went toe-to-toe through seven with Verlander only to walk away empty-handed. But last night's 6-1 victory might have been you best effort yet... if only because these games are starting to become crucial.
I have to warn you, I'm not convinced your the future ace that others predict you will be... but you've proven to me over the past three starts that you can hang with big boys.
We've still got some big games coming up against the Yankees, Rays and Angels, and I a have no faith in Brad Penny doing anything other than eating up our bullpen, so I'm looking to you to step while Wake and Dice-K finish rehabbing.
Also... could you thank Victor Martinez for being the new Manny to our Ortiz... it really seems to have turned Big Papi's season around... at least this week anyways... thanks.
Bottom Line: The offense is clicking again people! I told you all that if Bay got his shit together that he rest of the offense would fall in line... sometimes I look pretty smart.
Sometimes.
