From Extra Bases:

Jon Lester - Lester sat down the Pirates in the first yielding only a single up the middle by Andy LaRoche. He threw 16 pitches, 10 for strikes, and struck out one batter, Andrew McCutheon, looking at a slider on the outside corner. He finished the day with 30 pitches, 19 for strikes.

Takashi Saito - Saito struck out Bixler to start the third. He also struck out Andrew McCutheon swinging at a high, 3-2 fastball to end the inning. His pitches had a lot of movement, dipping and sinking.

Saito said he experienced no trouble with his shoulder, and he feels like a new pitcher after struggling mightily in the playoffs while confronting that shoulder injury. "I was able to reset myself emotionally leading into the season," he said.

Hideki Okajima - Okie-Dokie down the Pirates in order, getting two weak groundballs and striking out Brandon Moss.

Lars Anderson - The Red Sox most exciting prospect had a chance to be the hero with a late game at-bat and the Pirates up 3-2... but he struck out looking on a pitch that Adam Kilgore said may have been inside.

The Pirates won 3-2... that makes the Red Sox 0-2 to start the spring... but for the most part, the Sox look good, especially the pitchers.
