MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that the Red Sox have signed Brad Wilkerson to a minor league deal.

Wilkerson is a .247 career hitter and hit .220/.308/.326 in 104 games with the Blue Jays last year. FBAL notes that his shoulder will be a concern, but when healthy he does have 20+ home run power. Wilkerson is an outfielder, but does have experience at first base as well.

Bottom Line: The Red Sox are now stacked with outfielders and 1B/OF types including Mark Kotsay, Rocco Baldelli, Jeff Bailey Chris Carter, John Van Every and now, Wilkerson. If  JD Drew, Baldelli or Lowell go down or need a break, the Sox have some quality options on the bench and in the farm.

ps. Wiki says his nickname is "The Wilk." ... I can see the "Got Wilk?" shirts already.
