Jon Heyman is reporting that Jonathan Papelbon has avoided arbitration with a 1-year, $6.25 million deal.
As I just wrote (literally 10 minutes ago) most of us expected him to sign a deal between $5 and $7 million. This sets him up to commens $10M+ next year... unless the Red Sox can convince him to signa long term deal and avoid the free agent market.
