Okay Penny... you want us to stop cringing at the idea of you as our No. 3 guys in the post-season? Tonight's your chance to prove that you deserve that spot.
Delcarmen will not be available tonight after throwing 34 pitches, Bard has been used in three of the last four games and Paps needed 21 pitches to blow the save last night. That means we need more than your usual 5.5 innings of work tonight.
Sure Saito will be available to close and Ramirez and Okie Dokie could help out, but wouldn't you like to show us something special with the trade deadline two days away?
Personally, I think Buchholz' days are numbered hear in Boston and Wake and Dice-K are still on the DL, so we're looking to you to step up down the stretch.
It's the freakin' A's after all! They've never seen your stuff before and they probably used up all their offense last night when they scored nine runs on 20 hits, so this should be a cake-walk... and we know you like cake!
Oh... and the other guy on the mound blanked us through nine the last time we saw him, so don't expect too much from the offense - this one's on you.
Bottom Line: Tonight would be a great time for your first 7-inning performance, no? If you let us down, I'm calling Theo and telling him to trade you back to the Dodgers for Dee Brown.
Seriously, the Dodger have a kid named Dee Brown in left for the Isotopes... he's hitting .305 with 16 ding dongs and 62 RBI this season.
Jason Bay better step it up too.
