The Herald's Ron Borges says Theo Epstein should give the Blue Jays whoever they want for Roy Halladay:

Stop worrying about who's going to play center field five years from now or who's going to be the next closer if Jonathan Papelbon decides to leave in two years. Stop wasting time trying to project the future of an 18-year-old kid like Ryan Westmoreland, who a year ago was preparing for his high school prom in Portsmouth, R.I., and make a move to get someone who's already shown what he will do this year if you give him the ball.

Call J.P. Ricciardi in Toronto and give the Blue Jays general manager Daniel Bard or Casey Kelly, if that's what he wants, along with some combination of Clay Buchholz, Michael Bowden, Lars Anderson and Westmoreland. Grab Roy Halladay and, most likely, the American League pennant, and be done with it.

If you're having second thoughts, go watch Spike Lee's landmark film and then "Do the Right Thing." Pull the trigger.

Though I agree with his overall point, I'm not sure I'd give J.P. anyone and everyone.

I don't think we're holding onto Bard because he offers insurance at the closer position... he does, but he's also become a vital part of the setup team - so much so that Ramon Ramirez (a very good RP himself) has lost his job to the young flamethrower.

Maybe Theo has simply been showcasing Bard over the past month at Ram Ram's expense, but I think they see Bard as a a guy that can anchor the bullpen for years, while Ramirez, Delcarmen and Masterson are all a little more expendable.

That said, Masterson's versatility has been extremely helpful to the Sox. But for that same reason, I think he'll be included in almost any major deal the Sox try to make.

Then there's Clay Buchholz. Personally, I've seen enough. If he makes or breaks the deal for Halladay, I say do it.
