Nick Green has been slowly winning over Red Sox Nation this season with consistently improving defense and batting average that has hovered between .280 and .300 for most of the season.
Yesterday he gained my allegiance for good with a game-winning ding dong aginst the Braves.
Bottom Line: Many forget that Green was not a short stop when he signed with the Red Sox this offseason, but when Lugo and Lowrie went down, he was asked to fill in and do his best. He struggled with Lugo-like errors, but those miscues have become a thing of the past, while his hitting has earned him more and morer playing time.
The Sox are going to have a tough decision to make when Jed Lowrie returns from injury, becuase Nick Green has proven he can handle the everyday role at short.
ps. Julio Lugo wants me to remind you all that he is also hitting .300 this season... but until he hits a game winner or shows me a little range in the field, Green is my guy.
