red sox rain marlins.jpgWell that sucked.

Jon Lester fought his way through five soggy innings last night, but the Sox couldn't figure out Ricky Nolasco and managed just one hit and one run on Kevin Youkilis' first inning homer.

Lester gave up two ding dongs himself and that proved top be the difference when the game was called after five innings. Lester needed 115 pitches on the night and allowed 8 hits against a Marlins team that ususally strikes out a ton - especially against lefties (175, most in MLB).

So we didn't get the sweep, but the Yankees lost to the Nationals (again, snicker) and remain three games back.

We'll try this again tonight, but more rain is expected to fall all day today. The hope is that it clears out in the afternoon. We'll have more thoughts on the Braves later today...

Peace.
