red sox sweep.jpgThe Sox just wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Tigers with a 6-3 win today.

Things got off to a rocky start when Tim Wakefield coughed up three runs in the second, but in true Shaky-Wakey fashion, he settled down and got through 6 2/3 innings before handing the ball off to the pen.

Side Note: Dice-K... I hope you were watching... these "5 and out" starts are getting old.

Anyway... the Sox went down 0-3 after two but knocked Dontrelle Willis right of the game in the thrid scoring six runs on a HBP (Ellsbury) four walks. Zach Miner replaced D-train, but didn't fair any better allowing a two-run double to Bay, a FC to Lowell and a RBI single to Baldelli.

Bottom Line: Wake buckled down and earned the win... the new lineup does the trick again (5+ runs in past four games)... and although Papelbon continues to look more like Matsuzaka than Mariano, the bullpen closed out the game and the road trip.

The Sox went 6-4 on the trip and head home to face the Rangers and Yankees - who also won today and remain tied with the Sox for first in the AL East.
