The Red Sox reminded the Marlins why they own the best home record in baseball last night, with a 9-3 victory, powered by David Ortiz (2 for 3, HR, 3 RBI), Jacoby Ellsbury (2 for 4, 2 R, 2 SB) and Tim Wakefield (6.0 IP, 2 ER, 4 SO).
Wake is now 9-3, putting him just one victory behind "Mr. Complete Game" Roy Halladay for the best mark in the AL. But Timmy isn't getting any love from the All-Star voters...
That's probably because he's rocking a 4.39 ERA and a 35/47 BB/SO rate to go along with those nine wins, while Halladay is pimping a 2.53 ERA and 88 strikeouts and Zack Greinke is this year's Josh Hamilton, posting a 1.72 ERA and 97 Ks on the season.
But if there's one thing I know I can count on in this crazy mixed up world that we live in, it's the power of Red Sox Nation. In 2002, we sent Johnny Damon to his first ever All-Star Game thanks to the magic of the "Final Vote" and repeated the performance in 2003 with Jason Varitek and again in 2007 with Hideki Okajima.
Wake still has a shot at making the All-Star team without the online-only "Final Vote," but it's gonna take some magic from the Nation. Wake has helped us win two World Series and has been winning 10-15 games a year for the Sox since before Zack Morris was cool... the guy deserves top throw the "knucklah" in an All-Star Game.

Make sure you also cast your vote (as often as possible) for Youk, who is currently beating Mark Teixeira by a goatee's length... Dustin Pedroia, who trails Ian Kinsler by about 200,000 votes... and Jonathan Papelbon (16 SV, 1.93 ERA), who is fighting off Joe Nathan (15 SV, 1.78 ERA) and Mariano Rivera (15 SV, 3.25 ERA) as usual for the AL closer's role.
