Extra Bases says Julio Lugo tweaked his knee back on March 8th while rounding second base and yesterday it hurt so much the he asked out of the game and was immediately taken to get an MRI.

Lugo has been one of the best hitters in camp this spring and he looked ready to reclaim the starting job at short stop over Jed Lowrie, but some of his comments in the Golbe have him sounding like his season might be in jeopardy:

"I'm worried," Lugo said. "Every time you have something hurt, you're worried because I know I'm the type, when something bothers me, when I say something, I'm in pain. Otherwise I'm not going to complain to pain. If you see me coming out, I'm hurting.

"It is disappointing," Lugo said. "But at the same time, things happen for a reason. God works his magic. That's the only way i see it. Something happens, you can't explain why it happens, but it happens. I've been blessed in my life, all the good things that I got."

Bottom Line: Thank godness for Jed Lowrie and for the surprising spring infielder Nick Green has had so far... the Sox may need him to fill in at the utility infielder if Lugo is seriously hurt.

Last year I was happy to see Lugo out of the lineup... but now I genuinley feel sorry for him.
