Jon Lester started the game and threw two shutout innings on just 20 pitches (12 for strikes). Lester continued to focus on his change up and did not throw the cutter at all in this game.

Junichi Tazawa faced major league batters for the first time this spring and made easy work of the Reds, retiring them in order. Hideki Okajima also threw a clean inning of work.

Ramon Ramirez and Wes Littleton we lit up later in the game... Ramirez for 4 hits and 4 runs (3 earmed) and Littleton for 3 hits, 1 walk and 5 runs - all earned.

Paul McAnulty, Chris Carter, Mark Wagner all went deep in the game. Carter and Bailey continue to go toe-to-toe so far this spring. Carter is 5 for 12 (.417) with a homer, a double and 2 RBI... Bailey, who was 0 for 1 as a pinch hitter last night, is now 5 for 10 (.500) with 4 RBI.

Jed Lowrie went 2 for 3 with a double, but Rocco Baldelli went 0 for 3 as a the DH. Jason Varitek was 0 for 1, but did score a run and he threw out Jay Bruce on a steal attempt in the first.
