VIDEO OF THE DAY
The boys from the Globe debate whether or not Jacoby Ellsbury success at the top pf the lineup is directly connected to the success of the Red Sox.
Bottom Line: If Ortiz and Lowell don't bounce back with solid 2009 seasons, Jacoby Ellsbury will be the least of their worries. As Ryan said, I think many fans set the bar too high for Jacoby last year after he dazzled us late in 2007. Despie stealing 50+ bases and hitting .280, people seemed to think that 2008 was a bust for him... and I wonder if it had more to do with Coco's second half success and Jacoby's mid-season struggles.
I expect good things from Ellsbury this year, but the offense will not hinge on his success, it will hinge on the health and success of the middle of the lineup: Ortiz, Youkilis, Bay, Lowell and Drew.
Thoughts?
