team USA dog pile WBC.jpgSean McAdam had a nice recap of team USA's dramatic 6-5 victory over Puerto Rico yesterday.

I pulled the stuff about Youk, but click over for the full article and click here for the Box Score.

Kevin Youkilis homered in the third inning and drew a bases-loaded walk just before Wright's heroics. The Red Sox first baseman compared the moment favorably with his World Series experiences.

"It's right there with it, I think," Youkilis said. "That excitement, that adrenaline rush. When you win the World Series, the dog-pile is just the same. You're celebrating a game, you're celebrating a nation and being with the United States and all the fans out there who were supporting us. You're celebrating as a whole, and that's what's special about that."

Youk is just 4 for 22 (.182), but he's tied for the team lead in walks (6) and home runs (3) with Adam Dunn... an interesting pairing of the "Greek god of walks" and the "King of strikeouts."

The U.S. will now play Venezueal again to determine the Pool 2 Champion. In their last meeting, Venezuela beat the U.S. 5-3 to win the Pool C "title," but the U.S. did beat them 15-3 earlier in the tourney... click HERE for the full bracket.

Could Youkilis and the U.S. hand Matsuzaka his first WBC loss in the semi finals?
