To recap... Jon Lester = man. Phil Hughes = boy.

Lester set the tone in early in last night's 6-4 win over the Yankees by fanning the first three batters he faced - Jeter, Damon and Teixeria. He finished the game with 10 strikeouts and had the Yankees looking foolish, minus the back to back homers from Damon and Teixeira in the 5th.

Phil Hughes on the other hand, averaged 23 pitches per inning and lasted just four innings. Hughes was coming off of an impressive start against the Tigers, but the Sox got to him early thanks to Mike Lowell who homered in the second and singled in a run in the third.

Daivd Ortiz also had a good game, going 2 for 3 with two RBI and two walks... but he didn't hit a home run.

Ramon Ramirez allowed his first earned run of the season when Teixeria hit his second home run of the game in the eight, but Jonathan Papelbon came in to fan Matsui and force Molina to pop out with the bases loaded - ending the threat.

It was an ugly ninth for Paps that included a single by Gardner, a plunck of Jeter and a walk to Swisher, but he struck out Teixera and Cano to end the threat ans secure the save.

Bottom Line: It wasn't pretty, but we battled through this one and earned the W. Lester had a good game... let's hope Josh Beckett uses it as inspiration tonight.
