mcgreevys 2.jpgIf you read this blog, you know I love a good burger and/or eating contest. Well, tonight McGreevy's will be launching the new Beckett Burger!

(Thursday, May 21st) McGreevy's will welcome Red Sox favorite, #19 Josh Beckett as he announces the McGreevy's Beckett Burger.   In support of the new menu item Beckett will give his pair of game day tickets to a McGreevy's patron in support of the McGreevy's Beckett Burger and the Josh Beckett Foundation. This event is free and open to the public.

All you have to do to win is come to McGreevy's from 12noon-3:00 p.m. and you'll receive a chance to win Beckett's personal Red Sox tickets.

If you decide to take the challenge and order a McGreevy's Beckett Burger you'll receive an additional 3 chances to win.

Josh Beckett himself will pull the winner between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. at McGreevy's.

TELL ME ABOUT THE BURGER!

The McGreevy's Beckett Burger is approximately the size of home plate, weighing a total 1 pound 9 ounces and features lettuce, tomatoes, pickles & cheddar cheese atop 25 ounces of 100% beef.   This monster of a meal retails for $30 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Josh Beckett Foundation.   Every McGreevy's Beckett Burger order comes with a complimentary t-shirt; those who finish the burger receive a t-shirt announcing that they beat the burger; patrons who strike out and need a to-go container are given a t-shirt announcing that the burger beat them.

If you didn't already know... here's the scoop on McGreevy's:

In 2008, Dropkick Murphy leader Ken Casey joined forces with film producer and baseball historian Peter Nash to officially re-establish and re-open McGreevy's 3rd Base Saloon at 911 Boylston St. 88 years after Prohibition, "Nuf Ced" lives on in a replica of his original bar featuring a baseball museum dedicated to Boston's history.

Bottom Line: Burgers, Beckett and beer... and a free t-shirt!? It's like they designed this entire event just for me!!

I have exactly 30 minutes to come up with an excuse to ditch work and get to the pub!

Think the Swine Flu excuse is still valid...?
