josh beckett red sox rain.JPGThe Red Sox will try and sweep the Yankees at home tonight, but they may need mops instead of brooms.

There's an 80% chance of rain tonight, meaning Josh Beckett's revenge may have to wait until the Yankees come to Beantown in early June.

Beckett was shelled for 8 runs on 10 hits and 4 walks when he faced the Yanks on April 25th. In his next start, he appeared to be taking his frustration out of the Rays through the first two innings, but Tampa ended up tagging his for 7 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks... promting some to wonder if Beckett is hurt...

I was prepared for Beckett to bitch slap the doubters with a strong performance tonight, but even if they do get the game in, the rain will make it difficult for all players to be at their best.

Beckett has been struggling with his command and the Yankees are 5th in the majors in both OBP (.360) and walks. They're also 2nd in the league in homers with 38 as a team... not a good combo for a struggling Beckett.

The Yanks will counter with Joba. He's been solid, but he's only got one win to show for it. Last time he faced the Sox he gave up 9 hits and 4 walks, but held the Sox to just 2 runs before Rivera gave up the game-tying homer to Jason Bay. Let's hope they're less magic needed tonight...

Bottom Line: If they get this one in, it's going to be sloppy and I should Joba or Beckett lose their grip on the ball at any point... it could also get messy, expecially after watching Drew get plunked and Girardi ejected in last night's soggy match-up.

Get the Cinco de Mayo Corona's on ice 'cause I think this one could muy loco...
