No good can come from six wild pitches in one game... excpect the opportunity to post his picture.

wild thing.jpgMatsuzaka threw four wild pitches and needed 102 overall to get through five innings against the Twins last night. Manny Delcarmen and Justin Masterson followed suit each throwing a wild pitch of there own, and both proved costly as MDC was forced to load the bases with an intential walk after his wild pitch moved the runners to second and third... and Mastey's WP actually hit Cuddyer (with two strikes) and plated a fourth run for the Twins.

A pretty sloppy night overall, but you have to look at the offense as well. Kevin Slowey looked sharp, but the Sox mustered just six hits against him and no hits against the relievers that followed. Despite his wildness (4 WP, 3 BB, 9 H) Matsuzaka kept the game managable for the Red Sox, but the bats have gone to sleep overt the past two games.

Bottom Line: We're now tied with the Yankees for first in the East. I'm not liking that and I bet Josh Beckett doesn't either. I expect him to step up this afternoon with a big game, but it would be nice to the see offense beat up on the rookie the Twins are throwing at us today as well.

For the record... the last time we faced a rookie we hadn't seen before was the Toronto series. We actually saw two in Robert Ray and Brett Cecil... we lit them both up and the Jays promptly shipped them back to Triple AAA.

I'm just saying...
