Extra Bases - The Boston Red Sox today announced their 2010 Major League coaching staff. DeMarlo Hale has been named bench coach, Tim Bogar will serve as third base coach, Ron Johnson joins the staff as the first base coach and Rob Leary has been appointed Major League coaching staff assistant.Additionally, Pitching Coach John Farrell, Hitting Coach Dave Magadan and Bullpen Coach Gary Tuck will all return in the same roles they held in 2009.
John Lackey isn't the only starter worth discussing this offseason. Randy Wolf had a solid year for the Dodgers and Buster Onley tweets that there are a number of teams interested in Wolf... could the Red Sox be one of them?
And Marlin's ace Josh Johnson keeps popping up on the rumor mill. The Marlins have control over Johnson through 2011, but as always with Florida, they may be looking at what they can viz trade before Johnson become a Free Agent and signs a bog contract elsewhere.
MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Marlins and Johnson were unable to agree on an extension over the weekend. And Mike at River Avenue Blues think the Yankees should make a move for Johnson. Should the Red Sox?
Over the Monster - Joe Mauer is the AL MVP... and OTM wants to know what you would give up to bring Mauer in Boston?
Also, Big League Stew think the Twins need to lick up Mauer now and quit dilly-dallying because the Yankees are already sniffing around and Twins fans are getting nervous that he might walk.
Youk and Bay finished in the Top 10 on the AL MVP race.
