ESPN's: Buster Onley is reporting that Jed Hoyer is close to signing on as the Assistant GM of the San Diego Padres.
Here's an interesting angle on this story: If Hoyer ends up in San Diego, will he be able to help Theo Epstein trade for Adrian Gonzalez?
Hoyer will have all the details on prospects Theo offers up. The question is: Is that a good or a bad thing?
If Hoyer does his job properly, he'll do what's best for the Padres... but if Theo puts the right package together, Hoyer could be our "inside man" that helps push the deal through.
