yankees finger.jpgI'll be swamped at work today, and to be honest, there isn't much to say after getting swept in the Bronx and watching the Yankees celebrate clinching the AL East. But some of our friends across the blog-o-sphere have chimed in, so I'll drop some links below for you guys to enjoy:

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well here's 10 pics from Red at Surviving Grady that sum up how he and most of Red Sox Nation feel this morning.

Fenway West is wondering how MLB.com is getting way with being so pro-Yankee... Matt - while you're at it, maybe you can ask how ESPN and FOX have been getting away with it for years...

Dan from Red Sox Monster reminds us that it's not so bad to be the underdog - it worked for us in 2004... I really like this post, or at least the idea behind that one statement. I don't long for the days of 70-win seasons, but I feel that we've lost out edge a little bit here in Boston with all four sports teams playing so well as of late. Perhaps an up-hill battle through the playoffs is just what is needed to finally give this 2009 Red Sox team an identity... Like Dan said... these guys aren't the "Idiots," but there are still some great personalities on this squad.

Maybe it's time we held a contest for the best nickname of the 2009 Red Sox... check back later and I'll set it up for the playoffs... maybe we'll throw in a free t-shirt.

Extrta Bases has some quotes from the players. It appears that the Sox, to a man, feel that once you make the playoffs, division titles and regular season stats are irrelevant:

"I think they have the best team in the American League East," closer Jonathan Papelbon said. "Sure. Facts are facts. I think there's a little sense of pride in trying to win the division every year. But realistically, the point is getting in and getting hot."

"As of right now, obviously they're the better team," leftfielder Jason Bay said. "Once the postseason starts, everything else is kind of thrown out the window."

Didn't it sting just a little watching the Yankees celebrate?

"I don't care," Kevin Youkilis said. "I want to get into the playoffs. Once we get there, it's a whole other game."
