First off... I'm still trying to understand why Mike Lowell wasn't starting that game. V-Mart has been struggling over the past week or so, while Lowell has been on fire... and with Garza holding lefties to a .194 BAA, I really don't see the rational in stacking the lineup with southpaws.

Garza didn't pitch great, but he went toe-to-toe with Beckett through six while our lefties went a combined 2 for 15 with 5 walks and 3 Ks.

Second... Why the heck did Tito bring Ramirez back out after a 30-minute wait in the 8th!? That makes about as much sense as pinch-running your No. 3 starter... wait...

Seriously though, that was just plain stupid on Tito's part. I know he's trying to save the pen, but that's what the expanded roster is for.

Also... I know Gonzo has been on fire lately, but he's still your No. 9 hitter. Next time the Rays decided to hand us the game in 8th by loading the abses on free passes... and you've got Mike Lowell on the bench... PINCH HIT MIKE LOWELL!

Third... memo to Manny Delcarmen: Evan Longoria likes to swing at the first pitch. Also... he likes to hit homeruns against the Red Sox. Next time give him some chin music or bury your first pitch in the dirt. Did you really think you were gonna sneak one by him Manny?

Lastly... Josh, buddy, I think it might be time for you to start grumbling about a sore shoulder or those blisters you used to get all the time. It's pretty clear that you need that little mid-season vacation and now we're running out of time. You can skip your next start and let one of the kids pitch against the Chi-Sox on Monday.

Really, we'll be okay. We need you to do whatever you need to do to get your head right before the playoffs.

Bottom Line: I'm proud of our guys for crawling their way back into this one. Tito and the bullpen blew it last night, so now we've gotta turn the page and fight for a win tonight.

By the way, we'll be facing David Price who is 6-2 with a 2.96 ERA at home this year...
