Clay Buchholz set the tone for the home-stand on Tuesday with 7 shut out winnings and a win.

The Sox got 7 innings from Lackey last night, but they weren't as pretty as Buchhy's. Lackey allowed 10 hits and 5 run, but fought his way through 7, enabling Tito to skip over the struggling middle relief corps for the second straight night.

The offense (and defense: see Nava) had to pick him up, but you have to credit Lackey for battling. He's done it all season and he did it last night.

Lackey is now 11-7 deespite a 4.62 ERA, which actually jumped up from 4.54 after last night. He could end up with 15 wins, but he hasn't exactly pitched like a $82 million-dollar pitcher.

Thankfully, Adrian Beltre is playing for his own big contract. Beltre was 2-5 with a homer and 3 RBI last night and kept the Sox in the game. Then the Sox did what they do best... they worked the count and forced the Angels to throw away the tying run and plunk Daniel Nava for the go ahead run.

Kid's playing like a pro right now... takes the HBP with the bases juiced and goes balls out on that catch with the game on the line... love it.

Lastly - Paps struck out the side after Bard bridged the gap... I'll take more of that please.

7 free passes and 12 hits should win your team almost any game. We needed all of them last night, but with the Yankee and Rays both winning, a win is a win. We remain 5/5 games behind them both in the East and WC race.
