Victor Martinez, C/1B

As we can see in the above graph, Victor Martinez has consistently his around .300 throughout his career, but his production numbers have flucuated a bit over the years. My guess is that playing for a mediocre Clevelenad Indians team for his entire career kept him from being a consistent 25 HR, 100 RBI man in the Americcan League.
Even with a "weaker" 2010 lineup, hitting third for the Red Sox should enable V-Mart to reach those plateaus.
Martinez was a machine after being traded to Boston in July in 2009, but it remains to be seen if he can keep that pace throug ha full season with the Sox. Theo Epstein has declared that V-Mart will be the everyday catcher, but it is in the best interest of Martinez and the Re dSox to keep him fresh, so don't expect Jason Varitek to catch a measlity 32 games this season... My guess is we see a healthy split of 100 games for V-Mart and 62 for Tek. Last season Martinez caught 85 games and played 72 at firstbase, so catching 100+ games would be an increase, but not a drastic one.
If Martinez can staty healthy and strong, I expect big things. With Ellsbury and Pedroia in front of him and Youk and Ortiz behind him, he'll see plenty of RBI opportunities and he should come close to 100 runs as well.
It's also going to help that Victor will be playing for a new contract. Martinez and the Red Sox would love to sign an extension before the season starts, but while V-Mart has stated he would like to stay in Boston, he has laso stated that the Sox have yet to contact him about a new deal.
If Victor has the season I expect him to, he could demand something like 5 years and $75 million... and if that's the case, I'm not sure the Sox will go that high - at least in years.
Bottom Line Projection: 575 AB, 26 HR, 38 2B, 105 RBI, 92 R, .296 BA, .871 OPS - Special Category: Games Caught: 105
