Josh Beckett has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to nagging back spasms.

Beckett missed his scheduled start against the Blue Jays las tweek due to the back spasms, but managed to prove he was healthy enough to start against the Yankees yesterday. Beckett struggled in the game and was abruptly yanked in the 5th after pitching coach John Farrell visited the mound. The Yankees claimed there was no injury and played the remainder of the game under dispute.

Reliver Joe Nelson has been called up to fill his spot. Nelson was 3-2 witha 2.49 ERA in 21.2 innings with the Paw Sox. He fanned 21 along the way, but also walked 14 batters.
