The Red Sox swept the Mariners this week while the Rays and Yankees beat up on each other in a death match atop the AL East. The Rays took 2 of 3 in that series and that sets things up for an interesting run towards October.
The Red Sox now sit 6.0 games behind the Yankees for the Wild Card spot. The Rays own the East by a measly 1/2 game, but if the Rays pull ahead and the Yankees fall a little closer to the Sox... the Red Sox still have six games against the Pinstripers.
